Error correction lets a QR code still be read when part of it is dirty, damaged, or covered. Higher levels (Q, H) recover more — up to about 30% at level H — but make the code denser. Medium (M) is a good default; choose H if the code will be printed small or might get scuffed.
Use SVG for print or anywhere it may be resized — it's vector, so it stays sharp at any scale. Use PNG when you need a plain image file for a slide, chat, or web page. Both are pure black-on-white for maximum scannability.
Size is the width and height of the QR image in pixels — it sets both the on-screen preview and the downloaded file (you can also drag the preview's corner to resize it). Margin is the blank "quiet zone" around the code, measured in modules; the spec recommends at least 4, which is the default, and scanners rely on it to find the code.
This tool supports all 40 QR versions, up to roughly 2,900 bytes of text at the lowest error-correction level. Longer input automatically uses a larger, denser QR version; if it exceeds the maximum you'll see a notice to shorten the text or lower the error-correction level.
